Vision Plans

The knowledgeable staff at VAOH is experienced in working with vision insurance providers. We will work directly with you and your vision insurer to submit claims regarding your vision care. We strive to ensure that you understand your insurance coverage and will answer any questions you may have regarding your benefits. Many current vision plans are designed to cover most of the basic vision-related costs, but not all costs associated with eye care, such as contact lens evaluations. Most plans often require a co-payment for an office appointment as well as additional costs that are covered by the insured patient. Help us help you by finding out your routine vision coverage before your appointment; it may not be through your major medical. We do participate in most major medical plans when you have a medical eye problem. Contact our office at 908-852-3900 to find out if your insurance provider is accepted in our office or for more information.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Many employers are offering Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options to employees. Sometimes these are referred to as cafeteria plans and are elective, supplemental insurance savings plans. These plans are designed to let you save money in an account, pre-tax, to pay for additional medical expenses such as eye exams, glasses, contacts, and often laser vision surgery. Check with the benefits administrator at your work to see if you are eligible for this program. FSAs can typically be used in conjunction with any vision insurance plan to offset any out-of-pocket costs on your behalf.

Testimonials

Wendy S.-

Wow! Thank You - I might have found my vision care 'home' - some tests I've never had, some information I never got - friendly and helpful staff - and a great prescription too, within a week of my appointment --- 1st time in years I didn't have 3 days of vertigo from new glasses - within a couple of hours I was adjusted - and things are crystal clear again! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Katie M.-

So friendly and helpful! Both my girls and I feel very well taken care of.

Eyewear-care Do's

  • Do clean lenses regularly with warm water and a drop of dish detergent, then dry with a clean, soft cotton cloth, like a handkerchief, or a microfiber cloth. Launder any cloth routinely according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Do use a hard-shell case that is the right size for your glasses.
  • Do lay glasses down with their lenses facing upward.
  • Do use both hands to put glasses on and take them off, and keep glasses on your nose, not on your head. Otherwise, frames can become misaligned. Even clean lenses are less than effective if they aren’t positioned properly in front of the eyes.

Eyewear-care Don'ts

  • Don't wipe lenses when they’re dry. Any debris on their surface or dust in the cleaning cloth could cause scratches.
  • Don't wipe lenses with a tissue, paper towel, or paper napkin. They can have a rough surface.
  • Don't use ammonia, bleach, vinegar, or window cleaner, which can harm lenses and their coatings. (Most lenses are now coated, usually with an anti-reflective layer.)
  • Don't spit on your lens. While spit is a handy cleaning solution, saliva may contain oil or something else that’s damaging. Exhaling on lenses before cleaning doesn’t get them very wet, and we don't recommend it.
  • Don't put unprotected glasses in a purse, pocket, or bag.
  • Don't regularly place glasses on a sink or vanity top. Spatter, sprays, and cosmetics can soil lenses, and hair spray or perfume can damage anti-reflective coating.
  • Don’t leave glasses in a hot car. Especially avoid the top of the dashboard. The windshield will act like a magnifying lens and produce a lot of heat which can warp frames and lenses.
  • Do NOT use crazy glue on frames or lenses for repairs. It can ruin the lenses and void the warranty on your frame.
